Romanchakam

Romanchakam, the title track from the movie Romanchakam, captures the strange, exhilarating feeling of entering a new emotional world with someone you love. Composed and sung by Vasuki Vaibhav, with lyrics by Chandrabose.

The opening imagines a day when the entire world suddenly feels new. Time no longer needs a clock, happiness has no measure, and for the two people in love, everything seems to belong to them. Even conversations without a real subject become endlessly interesting. These simple moments reveal the intimacy at the heart of the song, where being together matters more than what they are actually doing.

The lyrics become more personal with “Ekkadunna nuvve gnapakam”, where the beloved remains in his memory wherever he goes. Her santhakam, or signature, seems to be imprinted upon his life. The following “Nuvvu leka ledhu vyapakam” goes further, suggesting that without her, his life loses its vastness or sense of expansion. Wherever she is absent, everything else begins to feel like an act.

Chandrabose then expresses love through deliberate contradictions. The singer feels as though he is burning in ice, shivering inside flames, and floating even while sinking. These impossible sensations capture an emotion that refuses to behave logically.

That is where the title Romanchakam finds its fullest meaning. It is not simply happiness. The word evokes goosebumps, thrill, excitement, and that involuntary shiver produced by an overwhelming feeling. The song presents falling in love as exactly that kind of experience: unfamiliar, contradictory, exciting, and impossible to simply shake off.
